Round all the pieces up, but they just don’t fit the same…
HELLO EVERYONE I AM BACK! ...In probably the worst way possible. Happy 300!
So, before we get into the typical 'oh man I hit 300 pages etc etc' spiel, I've been gone for... what is it, 88 pages now? So I've obviously missed a lot of commentary and whatnot. Of course, I can't go back and make a comment about every single page ever, so it's a little bit of a moot point... and I did have commentary going in the Alt Text starting on the first update of this year, so there's that...
But let's reiterate a few points, for the hell of it.
World was essentially a massive shout-out to my old work, more specifically Interplanetary Shadows (part one) and the Ice Cap's darkest hour (part two). Interplanetary Shadows was my first comic, which was basically a tournament for its entire run in which Katty (then Kat) judged the matches and shenanigans went down. It was... really, really bad. We never speak of it. Except when we do. The Ice Cap's darkest hour was a thing that I wrote a long time ago and where Kokuei came from, and also why his personality - as it formed during his fight against Két - was the way that it was.
I suppose I should talk a bit about this arc in general. Originally, I was going to use a bunch of not-quite recolors (as seen here) for World , and skip over some of the matches while seeing some of the others. One of the matches we'd see would be Sanctum VS Iori, which would result in Két getting hit by one of Iori's vehicles, and Sanctum having to treat her on the spot using his pushing power to push out the pain - and in the process, he'd notice her awareness, because that was a thing he could do, apparently. With this piece in play, he would have then caused some form of explosion in the audience to catch Két off guard and take her captive - but I ran into a few problems with that idea. The first was that Sanctum doesn't like hurting innocent people - making an explosion in the audience would be counterintuitive to his agenda. The second was that, even if he knocked Két out, there would have still been everyone else there to deal with, and he wouldn't have been able to get out unscathed. Then we have the other problem with this arc-
That is, what Kokuei was originally going to do.
Y'see, Kokuei's design being based off of Emerl was because he was originally going to be just like the robot - that is, copying things by seeing them. So, Kokuei vs Két would become a battle of the wall-powers, Kokuei slowly getting a grasp on them while Két struggled to fend him off with her reservations about, y'know, not killing things, while the comic itself began to break in various places due to both of them using wall-shenanigans to fight one another.
However, the result was essentially the same - Két would lose the fight, and have to be saved by herself. When Kokuei lifted her by the throat, the variation of her we see here would have pulled a Big Damn Heroes moment and did what she did to Kokuei in today's update. Aside from her injuries in the fight, she would have been fine and gone about life as normal.
But, things wound up changing. While the overall objective of this world ("Stop Sanctum") was the same throughout, the occurrence in Part 2 changed. Instead of getting her powers copied, she lost her wind powers, and was forced to deal with the situation without them. Then I realized that, by upping the update schedule (which I was planning on doing anyway, or this World would have lasted forever), I could make Page 299 land on April Fools' Day. And so plans began forming in my head.
And just like that, Két 'died'. But I decided it wasn't enough. The April Fools' Day Prank wasn't that Két died. In fact, I’ve been doing this since I started making Aware: I haven’t had a single April Fools’ Day prank for this comic. As such, the “prank” was that it wasn't a prank. If her counterpart and that voice hadn't stepped in, she would have died. She would have died, and it would be game over.
However, her counterpart was originally going to just sort of... show up for no reason. As a sort of 'I'm looking out for you, but I'm not going to help you unless you really need it' deal. But then I realized that wouldn't really work - she needed some way of knowing that Két was in danger. And so, the hidden plot thread of Worlds and came into being - that is, what the frickle frackle I've been doing this whole fluffing time. This page should give you an idea of it, but the actual explanation - as well as what the deal with this version of Két is - is coming up in probably a few pages' time.
We’ve also hit 300 pages! …um, yay? I don’t have much to say here, except that the game is probably going to be changing now that this… entire page is a thing. World has been something of a Wham Episode, so we’ll have to see how it unfolds.
I don't really know if I have anything else to say, other than that I'll probably be stopping with the Alt Text now that I'm free to comment again, and that I'll be responding to comments again and all that nonsense. And, of course, I have a few more Meta notes to add...
•Happy 300th page! Our 300th page marks the semi-formal introduction of Két, The Wanderer! Only... not quite? She might not be the Két we're familiar with.
•=END OF WORLD =
•Welcome back to World [W]!
•We’re going to be going back to updates every three days now that World is done; it was sped up both for yesterday’s “prank” and the fact that World was so long.
•The song of World [W] is OK GO’s “White “Knuckles”.

Oh - and lest I forget, me and a bunch of the other Letter 7 authors made a bunch of dumb jokes based on one of the panels in this page. They can be found here:
