Foolish thinking. The author controls many things in their story but they do not hold sway over everything. Things happen we don't see or ever hear about.
Yet in that universe they happen the author may have a idea of some of these events but nothing is concrete. Example would be the family lineage of a character. A Author knows and picks the father, Mother, Aunts, Uncles and Grandparents.
But who was their ancestor 500 years ago? Only the comic verse knows. Authors are creators but we cannot create everything. Kind of like the Lego Movie world being connected to a human world. Sure the kid stuck the Piece of Resistance on Emmet but did he control Emmet's life completely? No the characters had a life that extended well beyond just the imagination of a young boy.

@TheHowlingStorm- Yes you do.
@RoninHunt0987- BUT IT'S A FRIDAY AND IT'S RAINING
@HarrisonButterGem- Maybe a more sturdy material.
@gatemaster- [insert dance music here]
@plokman- You mean you don't come up with their ancestors from 500 years ago? ...In all seriousness, if something is important, an author will have it show up somewhere. That's just the basics of storytelling. And Emmet's life started and ended with the movie. Sure he had a life before and after, but all we saw was the movie. And for Két, what we see is all there is.

@plokman: Literally nothing exists that the author doesn't write. An ancestor from 500 years ago can't be acknowledged or even thought about by the character without the author writing those details. Fictional characters are not living breathing things and the comic universe is not real.

@The Magnificent Z: Oh then do any of your characters sleep? Eat? Use the restroom? the comic world is as alive as it's creator wants it to be. Like the Lego movie example Emmet has a life before and after the movie. We just don't see it and even though we don't can you say it isn't there?

@plokman: Emmet can move around in the real world within the movie so things don't exactly work in the film like they do in actual reality. Also the film itself is fiction (live action sequences included) and everything stops when the credits roll.
